Are your performance measures driving rapid improvement in customer satisfaction, operations, cost reduction and revenue growth?  Is everyone in your organization aligned around common objectives and goals – and know if they are achieving them?  How does your organization’s performance stack up relative to key competitors or relevant benchmarks? 

In order to succeed, organizations need an effective analytical basis for their decisions.  Resources for improvement are limited and cause and effect connections are often unclear.  In many organizations, measurements are limited to financial performance, measured by lagging indicators.  These indicators explain what happened, not why and are not very helpful in guiding improvement initiatives.   

Developing a good set of measures is one thing, making sense out of all the data is another.  This is compounded by the seemingly overwhelming availability of electronic data and information.  Effective utilization of this wealth of information is a significant challenge for most organizations.

Our consultants will help your organization select, manage and better use data and information in support of organizational planning and performance improvement.  We will help you create or refine an integrated measurement and analysis system that includes both financial and non-financial data and information.  Our goal is to help guide your process management activities toward the achievement of key business results and strategic objectives.  This will enable your organization to anticipate and respond to rapid or unexpected internal or external changes.  

Approach 

We will help your organization begin thinking about the causal drivers of your performance.  We begin by asking how data and information are gathered, integrated and used for monitoring daily operations and supporting organizational decision making.  We will guide your organization in selecting the right things to measure to better track operations and overall organizational performance.  

We then evaluate how comparative data and information are selected and captured.  Are you looking at the most relevant comparative data?  This data is used to help decide what areas of the business need to be improved.  It is also used to set stretch goals and spark innovation.  

Finally, we evaluate the types of analyses are being performed to support senior management’s evaluation of organizational performance and strategic planning.  This includes the communication of these results for effective decision making throughout the organization. We will provide additional analysis tools and training to enhance the organization’s analytical capabilities as required.
