Six Sigma Champion Training and Coaching

Challenge

Are your executives and key managers competent change agents?  Do they possess the organizational skills required to effectively lead a Six Sigma business improvement initiative?

Most business leaders have not been trained in or even exposed to the advanced process improvement techniques and change strategies embedded in Six Sigma.  Yet they will be called upon to lead the mobilization and deployment of the Six Sigma initiative throughout the company.

Like most business improvement initiatives, Six Sigma is most effective when driven from the top.  Deployment is accomplished through Champions or Sponsors, who will select the improvement projects, staff the improvement teams and authorize other resources as necessary to achieve breakthrough results. In fact, unless the improvement projects are important to and aligned with the business and customer requirements, there is little hope that they will succeed.

Solution

DeBaylo Associates’ three-day Champion training session provides the knowledge and skills required for executives and managers responsible for leading the implementation of Six Sigma.  We provide the skills and competencies for Champions to select the right projects, pick the right people, and support the Black Belts/Green Belts through successful project completion.

Approach

Champions are trained on the basic principles of Six Sigma and learn about the DMAIC improvement model and tools through a case study simulation.  Building a case for action, participants learn to select and prioritize improvement projects, linking the projects to significant business impact and financial returns.

A key role of Champions is to mobilize the troops and mentor and support the “belts” to achieve breakthrough results.  To this end, the training covers ways of successfully deploying the Six Sigma initiative, developing a supportive infrastructure – including Human Resources and Financial management, and actively managing the change initiative.

Champions will be prepared to lead the development of performance measures (called “dashboards”) and set up a review and corrective action structure to monitor and track results.  Our consultants are available to work with the Champions after the session to help them continue the mobilization and manage the organizational change.
