LIFO Orientation Assessment and Team Building

Challenge

Do your employees work effectively with others and in teams?  Could improving these interactions lead to increased productivity and more effective solutions to the organization’s most challenging problems?

About 60% of the success of company-wide improvement efforts can be attributed to good interpersonal skills and teamwork.  Yet most improvement training programs focus on technical skills and neglect those strategies and tactics that help employees work better together.

Wouldn’t it be great if there were a positive approach to building a more effective organization?  An approach that leverages the unique strengths each person already has toward the good of the whole group?

Solution

Life Orientations® Training (LIFO) is an applied behavioral science system, which fosters individual and organizational productivity.  LIFO helps employees deal more effectively with people and problems in all situations – with themselves, with another person, and with groups.  It is immediately useful and the techniques can be applied both at home and at work.

Research has shown that individual strengths are shaped by one or more guiding principles.  These principles provide an orientation to life – a special way of looking at the world.  Despite our diversity, there are only four basic ways of seeing problems and people.  Each of these four ways is like observing the world through a separate window:

Understanding these perspectives and which ones an individual favors, can be a powerful tool to interacting with others and working better as a team.

Approach

Our LIFO workshops begin with a survey that is completed and scored by each individual.  The survey identifies the individual’s basic orientation to life, or personal style.  Based on this foundation of self-knowledge, we develops and apply four powerful strategies that enable individuals and groups to be more productive in their work help them get through, get agreement and get action when communicating with others.

During the workshop, participants work with real examples from their own work environment, so this session is practical and helpful.  Action plans are developed so that the theory can be immediately put into practice.

Results

LIFO training helps build more effective, team-based organizations.  These organizations learn how to leverage the inherent strengths of individual employees and dramatically improve their working relationships with their peers as well as with customers and suppliers.

LIFO has benefited more then 20,000 organization.  It has helped organizations improve employee skills so that they become:

p      more productive in their own work

p      more influential when dealing with other people

p      more effective in solving key business problems
